The program aims to prepare graduates who are academically, professionally and technically qualified in the field of French language and literature.
The program encourages study that contributes to enriching the cultural reality in Egypt and the Arab world, including linguistic and comparative studies and comparative literature. The program also works to train researchers, critics, and translators who are able to make the connection between their mother tongue and the language of specialization, aiming to enrich Arab culture, not through dependent transmission, but through free and constructive interaction. objectives of The program are greater than providing graduates who work in the field of teaching in schools, tourism, or secretarial work, relying on linguistic skills. Since its establishment in 1975/1976, the department, as one of the departments of the Faculty of Arts, has been committed to serving the local and national community by providing first-class education in the field of French language with the aim of graduating students with a high level of knowledge, competence and professionalism in order to meet the needs of the labor market in the fields of Education, translation, tourism, business administration, media, banking, diplomacy and other related fields.
In order to achieve this, the department aims to maximize its students’ linguistic abilities in the areas of reading, writing, listening, conversation, and critical creative thinking.
It also aims to enhance students’ understanding of French language literature at its various stages. The department includes a distinguished elite of qualified professors with high experience in the fields of teaching and scientific research.
