Continuation of the activities of the presidential initiative ‘Tamkeen’ under the title: ‘Towards an Inclusive University Without Barriers, Academic Empowerment, Community Awareness, and Sustainable Policies

    Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Mohamed Hussein Mahmoud, President of Tanta University, Prof. Mahmoud Farouk Selim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development and Prof. Mamdouh Nasif El-Masry, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Chairman of the Board of the Disability Services Center, and in the presence of Prof. Raafat Abdel-Razzaq Abu Al-Einen, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Hala El-Sayed Nada, Vice Dean for Education and Students’ Affairsand Prof. Mohamed Zain Al-Abidin Merekeib, Director of the Disability Center at Tanta University.

    As a part of the activities of the third day of the presidential initiative “Tamkeen”, held on Thursday, 27 November 2025, under the title “Community Awareness: Families of Persons with Disabilities,” the day’s program included the following:

A speech by Prof. Hala Nada, Vice Dean for Education and Students’ Affairs, on the presidential initiative “Tamkeen” and its significance; and a discussion session titled “Psychological Support for Families of Students with Disabilities.”

The session featured presentations by Prof. Zeinab Mahmoud Shokair, Professor of Mental Health and Special Education at the Faculty of Education, Tanta University and Prof. Hager Alam El-Din, Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Director of the University’s Economic Units, who spoke about the importance of psychological support, the role of families in dealing with disabilities, and the facilitation of support and accessibility.

Additionally, Prof. Mohamed Taha, Professor in the Department of Foundations of Education at the Faculty of Education, Tanta University, discussed behavioral support for persons with disabilities, highlighting the family as the primary nucleus and the key pillar of support and safety for them.
